Fit for Work offers free, expert and impartial advice with work-related health matters. It can complement the service you provide to patients who are off sick from work.

GPs throughout England and Wales can refer employed patients to Fit for Work, with their consent, if they are, or are likely to be, off sick for four weeks or more.

The occupational health professional will produce a Return to Work Plan, which can replace the need for a fit note. The Return to Work Plan will be tailored to your patients’ needs to help them return to work in a way that’s right for them.
